Mental Health Assessment and Treatment
Adult Behavioral Health
Many adults experience anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health conditions that may interfere with their daily life. If you are in need of adult mental health services, you can feel confident turning to Penn Highlands Healthcare. We provide outpatient and inpatient mental health services to care for a range of behavioral health issues in adults, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, borderline personality disorder, co-occurring disorders and more.
Outpatient Adult Behavioral Health Services
Patients 18 and over with behavioral health issues or mental illness can receive a variety of outpatient assessments, counseling, and therapies for mild to severe behavioral health conditions. At our Penn Highlands DuBois Behavioral Health Center, we offer psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychological assessment, and individual and family psychotherapy.
Our team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors at locations throughout the region.
Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health Services
If our experts determine that your behavioral health condition will best be treated in the hospital, you will be admitted to our Behavioral Health Center in Dubois. As an inpatient, you’ll receive a thorough physical examination to determine your general health status and to ascertain whether underlying physical conditions or medications may be contributing to your behavioral problems.
Our team in the inpatient Adult Behavioral Health Unit, located on the Penn Highlands DuBois East Campus on Maple Avenue, offers personalized care to patients exhibiting behavioral health problems that impair their ability to function on a daily basis. The unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and features 27 private and semi-private bedrooms, as well as communal living, dining, and recreational areas.
Patients are seen daily by a psychiatrist as well as by another member of the care team. We provide our inpatients with a variety of intensive psychotherapies, along with nursing and educational services aimed at re-establishing emotional and cognitive stability, enhancing self-confidence, instilling and reinforcing coping capabilities, and initiating a plan of post-hospital care to complete and sustain recovery.
