Cynthia Miller Named October Employee of the Month
Cynthia Miller, interim supervisor in Housekeeping, is the Employee of the Month for October 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
In addition to her duties keeping buildings clean and organized, Cynthia is responsible for many other duties. She does scheduling and training of Housekeeping employees at PH DuBois. She is responsible for overseeing her department’s information sent to payroll. She also attends Infection Prevention and Control meetings and does inspections. She fills in when someone calls off and orders supplies as needed.
Cynthia started at Penn Highlands DuBois on May 21, 1987. She worked at the East Campus for six years on second shift as a housekeeper then transferred to the West Unit then the Medical Arts Building. She became third-shift assistant supervisor in 2005 in the West Unit. She has been serving as interim housekeeping supervisor since June 1, 2015.
“Cindy Miller, in my opinion, is as near to a perfect employee as we have,” Andy Sutika, director of Housekeeping, said. “I can honestly say that she is the backbone of our department and a force that keeps the department running efficiently despite being temporarily short staffed. Cindy is reliable and knowledgeable and can always be counted upon to help whenever and where ever needed. If Cindy is asked to do a job, you can rest assured it will be done on time and completely. She is a ‘ball of fire’ and is in seemingly endless motion. Cindy is extremely outgoing, friendly and courteous to staff, patients and visitors. She is one of our best examples of displaying customer satisfaction. My only regret with Cindy is that there is only one of her.
“I love working with employees and getting them trained on the job. The most challenging part of her job is doing payroll and inventory. I am well blessed that everyone is very patient with me. I really didn’t know what to expect when I accepted this position,” she said. She thanks Diane Pry, Maintenance and Security secretary, and Andy Sutika, director of her department, for their help.
A native of Brockway, Cynthia lives with her husband, Denny, and dog, Daja. They enjoy going to Brockway Church of God with Rev. David Nagele and lunch afterwards, walks, riding and visiting gifts shops. “I enjoy shopping until I drop,” she said, “and being with family and friends, and fellowship with my church family.”
