Aycock Named Director of Perioperative Services at PH DuBois
Christa Scheller Aycock, BSN, RN, CNOR, of Clearfield has been named the new director of Perioperative Services at Penn Highlands DuBois, according to Dr. Gary DuGan, chief medical officer at Penn Highlands Healthcare.
Aycock is responsible for the coordination of patient safety and care in the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit and the in-house GI Lab as well as the supervision of personnel who work in these same departments at Penn Highlands DuBois. She will also work to coordinate and collaborate with other departments and physician offices to streamline the perioperative process.
“We are very fortunate to have Christa in this role at PH DuBois,” DuGan said. “Her background as a nurse and a leader are a great fit for the hospital. We know that the departments she oversees will be run well and with the patients’ care and safety firmly front and center.”
Born and raised in Scranton, Aycock received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Scranton and became one of the first nurses certified as an operating room nurse at Geisinger Medical Center. She later attended Lock Haven University to further her education.
She previously worked for the former Clearfield Hospital as its director of Surgical Services before going to Mount Nittany Physician Group where she worked as a practice manager for several departments until now. She has also been a substitute school nurse for the Clearfield Area School District and a staff nurse at the former Clearfield Hospital and Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Aycock is a past board member of the Children’s Aid Society, Clearfield; the Continuous Improvement Committee at Centre Elementary School, Clearfield; and the Clearfield United Way. She is a current board member for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging. She is a past neighborhood chairperson for the March of Dimes and past member of the Relay For Life team at the former Clearfield Hospital. Aycock is a strong supporter of the CAST Theater in Clearfield having been in numerous productions both with and without her children.
She lives in Clearfield with her three children Joshua, Sarah and Aaron Aycock. Her husband is the late Philip J. Aycock, MD.
